Re: Indian Rosewood low-tuned 12 String
Joe, Good to see you back at the bench. I have been watching this build closely as I am planning a ladder braced mahogany guitar this size as soon as I can get back in the shop. So this is a learning experience. I don't see a bridgeplate on this one, although I think I see a different texture on the...

Re: Indian Rosewood low-tuned 12 String
I have been watching all along, but keeping my mouth shut and my eyes and ears open. I learn more that way. I am particularly interested in the bracing pattern.

Re: Thermally treated GC Build
Joe, Thanks for calling me out on the Stella guitar issue. It made me look. I did a little research and discovered that the Stella name was bought By Harmony circa 1939. It's clear to me that I have never seen one of the earlier Stellas. The only Stella that I was familiar with was in about 1950 and...

Re: Thermally treated GC Build
That's a beautiful guitar, Joe. Does it favor the L-00, do you think? Looks like I'm going to have to build a ladder-braced guitar after seeing yours. That is, as soon as I can do a little work in the shop. Speaking of Stella guitars, when I was a kid, I really looked down my nose at them. They were...

Re: New commission, Coco jumbo
Dang, John, You saw right through my little scheme. I did sell the purchase to my wife using the, "i need to study the work of the master", knowing full well that she saw through it too. I confess, I have GAS (guitar acquisition syndrome). But I can't help wanting one of Grant's guitars si...

Re: New commission, Coco jumbo
Dennis, When the boy came over to check out my guitars, I didn’t have much of my own construction to show him so I also showed him some of my personal guitars. He fell in love with my Martin OM-28 and decided I should build him one just like it. He wanted to add some herringbone purfling and some ab...

Re: New commission, Coco jumbo
Oh, I will Dennis. I may not do Rev Gary Davis as well a Andy Cohen but I'll set her on fire. When my fingertips come back from this chemo stuff, I will be on this thing like white on rice. My poor old D18 is going to feel neglected. You have to know that I am buying this to study Grant's innovation...

Re: New commission, Coco jumbo
Thanks Eban. Sounds good. Looks like it will be headed my way pretty soon. Sounds like the sound filled the room and some kinda playing. Great Thought i'd add a little eye candy as long as I'm on. This is my last commission before I had to slack off. Typical OM but 1/2-inch deeper. Thanks again, Tom...
