Re: Recycled #5
Markus, Douglas fir is not bad to work with but tends to be very splitty, it can give you amazing splinters in your fingers but I think it looks superb. I love the characterful appearance. My soundboard is made from 6 pieces of wood cut from a window ledge which resided underneath my living room win...

Recycled #5
Hi haven't posted for a bit but I have been busy. Here is another junkyard guitar made from recycled hardwood doors. Some of the bits and pieces. http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r486/macadee3/IMG_0439_zpsds5haqsa.jpg My own bracing system using Douglas fir for the soundboard as well as the braci...

I just kind of thought about it logically as I wanted to use the offset soundhole, previously I've made a couple of guitars using Tacoma / Mottola bracing but the last couple I've used this style to be a sort of X brace with the bridg...

Recycled #4 douglas fir
Thought you guys might like to see my latest bit of recycling. This one has mahogany back and sides from the remains of my door casing and a soundboard from an old douglas fir window ledge. The starting raw materials http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r486/macadee3/P1060603_zpsc9a9372d.jpg A kit of...

Re: 'Nother DC carved top Semi
Howie that looks pretty smart, love the contoured shape, do you do it simply by hand? Or eye or do you have some jig or other?

Re: Back door build
Here is my little recycled guitar finished more or less. It plays very nice and is quite sensitive, doesn't like hard strumming the sound becomes a little confused but a great little fingerstyle guitar. This is a little video as I haven't worked out the mp3 business yet. Click on the link and it sho...
