Re: Recycled #4 douglas fir

Very nicely done.

Where did you come up with the bracing scheme?

Re: My revised XX back bracing

Grant, I do the chladni voodoo on my tops. But even before I learned that, I would check the Hz and compare the top and back. After glue up, the frequencies do change, but they seem to do so equally. Once the top braces are carved to my satisfaction, I'll shave on the back braces until the two plate...

Re: My revised XX back bracing

Grant, That looks fantastic. One concern from the peanut gallery; When building I try to couple the resonant frequencies of the top and back. I've found that the stiffer I make the back, the tougher it is to get the frequencies in line with each other. This quadriple X thing you have going appears a...

Re: Size 2 Martin build coming late October

Grant,
That is REALLY cool looking. Can't wait to hear it (or maybe even play it.) What is your plan for after it is done? Keeping, giving or selling?

Re: New Cocobolo Jumbo

It is a bit more fussy to do, but since I am here more for the journey than the destination, i enjly doing it. And on the top, it allows me to reduce the brace mass by at least a third. If I think about this long enough I think I'll get why you reduce the brace mass. It's not because you're not car...

Re: New Cocobolo Jumbo

What a really cool idea on the back bracing.
Why didn't I think of that. Use the dish, laminate the braces and they stay in the radius after the glue dries.

Way cool!
Is that original or is it a trick I haven't read about in the journals of greatness yet?
