Re: My revised XX back bracing
Nylon bolts probably weigh about as much as the wood they displace.Steve Kinnaird wrote: ↑Fri Apr 06, 2018 10:43 am Although my Gallagher, like some Gibsons, uses wee bolts to help hold on the bridge. I never could bring myself to go that far. Just glue--and think of all the tension on that joint!

Re: Documenting my first total thermally modified build
Guitar looks great Grant. I like the 'stained' portions of the top also, the whole guitar says its been around a while rather than being a spanking new baby.

Sprinkle the top with some black ebony dust, woooo.... ...scary.Pat Foster wrote:Grant,
I'd love to do some Chladni voodoo on one of your braced tops. Might be real interesting!

Re: Documenting my first total thermally modified build
Baked rosette? Just kidding, actually thought of doing some wood just to get different colors. Cherry turns a nice shade and really brings out the flame in Maple as we saw in the other thread. Looking forward to the bark rosette, heck the whole build. We need to do a few more builds with this stuff ...

Re: L-1 Gibson Build
You know, with the different sides and back with the orphaned neck it all seems to work together. Will look great with some finish.

Re: 2 new bar fret guits
After all, it is getting to the point that if you sit down and play 2-3 dozen Chinese imports, you will probably find at least 1 that sounds pretty decent....and you probably won't need to spend much over 500 bucks. Hell, you can easily spend that much on parts and materials. So...... Oh great, now...
