Thanks guys, no forearm cut on this one, i wasn't game enough to attempt to bend the top, I've seen it done with flame but not spalt. I've already given the edges a rollover like a regular strat. I'll try get some pics of the progress up this weekend.
Steve I cut the selector slot using a dremel, straightedge and a 1/16" bit, nothing fancy.

If you are building the guitar to fender specs (Neck, pocket, bridge) No angle is required as the fretboard is higher than the body.

Eben we'll have to throw around some ideas for a programmable winder sometime. For my next winder I am thinking of using two programmable stepper motors (one for turns, one for feed). There are some good vids on youtube of a maker developing his own programmable winder.
