Hey Grant
Be neat if you could work some of the Nakashima butterfly joint holders into those openings.
Might be more easily done while the wood is still flat though.
Just a thought.

Re: Grange Floor Mandolins
Hey Mike Really cool way to re-use that aged wood. Should make a great back and neck. Those back joints need to be really good. Maple will move more than most wood we use - especially hard maple. Sort of reminds me of the Texas mesquite guitars I made while living in Breckenridge, Texas. Fun to see....

Hi Dean Seeing the top on this one makes me want to use one of mine. I really like the color of spruce from that bridge stringer. I put one of these tops on a mango dread I did several years ago - liked the look and the sound was great. Sold it to a rancher out in Levelland, Texas. http://img.photob...

Hey Joe, Glad you went back inside and thinned those braces down. You did get it opened up too. Now you need to do another - before you forget what you did. [At least that's what I would need to do.] Looking at the braces I thought maybe you should cut back from four to three. I do like the colors y...

Re: Grand Concert for Freegift, Builder Swap
Hey Joe Now that you have been playing this one for a bit - How did the brace pattern work out ? - Will you do this same one again ? What is your current feeling about the internal braces ? Is the sound dark ? Light ? Open ? Tight ? I have been using a stiffened rim [normal lining with veneer glued ...

Hi Joe, Glad to see you pulled this one out of the fire. Very glad. I like the amber shade you have put on the top. Makes it look aged. The humidity thing is a very real issue that I have struggled with too. My approach has been to limit my top/back bracing to humidity levels below 50%. That works f...

Hi Joe,
Been doing some catch up on your build.
I do like what I see. Nice job.
Careful, you could end up like me with 20+ guitars sitting around.
So, fish glue for the top and hyde glue for the balance ?
