Re: New commission, Coco jumbo
Hi Grant, I too have always been intriqued by your top bracing pattern. In GAL No. 95 there was a very interesting article about top bracing by French builder Alain Bieber (no relation to Justin, as far as I know). He has done a lot of experimenting with ring bracing. As far as I gathered he is most...

Re: Snakewood cedar OM cutaway
Hi Grant, Nice to see this unusual wood in the works. I remember your massive quarter log you got a few years ago and I see that some sets are up fro sale. I must say that the limited experience that I have with snake wood has been surprisingly good. Apart from the hairline cracks that are common in...

Re: New Cocobolo Jumbo
Hey grant,
Nice tutorial!
All things being equal (when does that ever occur in lutherie), compared to a ladder braced back, do you have a sense of what this lattice will do to the sound?

Re: Building forms & everything else I can
Hey kb1fvx,
I haven't build with a form like that, but all things considered I can't think it would pose a problem.
By the way, what is your name?
Erik
Edit: Ah, I see it is Mike.

Hey Todd,
Nice looking twins. Smoking rosettes! How did you do the little crossing on the sides of the rosettes?

Re: Reconfiguring the Maccaferri style guitar
Hey Grant, I just visited a builder a few weeks ago who had made half a dozen of Maccaferri guitars, mostly the petit bouche. He mentioned that he felt they were quite heavily built with massive soundboard bracing. I think he ended up making he later builds a bit lighter than the originals. He also ...

Re: Reconfiguring the Maccaferri style guitar
Hey Grant,
I'm looking forward to following this. I really like the look of the Selmer/Maccaferri guitars, the Petit Bouche in particularly. Where did you get your plan from? I only know of the Francois Charle plans and they seem very detailed and informative. Is that the one you've got?
Erik
