The Pink Beast

Yes, it's true, not all guitars are acoustics; some have single coils and some have buckers, and all of those have some serious electrons. Build 'em, work on 'em, mods, questions, Put 'em here!

The Pink Beast

Post by Dennis Mitchell » Mon Apr 20, 2009 10:40 pm

Now before you say anything...
My wife snagged this for $1! How could I say no? It's a Chinese POS, and will be a test bed for some of my warped ideas. Like an electric mando or something. Who knows.....

The fret work is so bad it WILL draw blood if you don't handle the neck carefully. :o There's a crack at the neck pocket (typical from several cheap Strat knock-offs I've seen), the neck angle is wayyyyyyyy off, and who knows what else I'll find when I rip it apart. Should make for a fun project axe. It could mutate into anything!

Why thank you dear sir! ;)

Maybe I should mention my wife works for Mary Kay, and they had an in-house surplus sale of odd and end prize/gift items that usually go to their consultants. Well, these pseudo-strats pretty much flopped due to quality, so they sold them off for a buck. I have one more coming that is busted up, but does have $1 worth of hardware on it.

Oh, that pink paint.....I have decided to strip it down and try my luck at a tobacco sunburst.

Ummmm, don't be surprised if that's plywood, or if solid wood, stuff you wouldn't want a visual of - Not saying it's definitely going to be, but it is more likely than not...

I'm fully prepared for the worst Eben! Figured $1 is pretty cheap for a *lab rat* guitar to rip apart and experiment with before spending the serious bucks. Hey...the pick ups are worth a $1 as paper weights! Or double stick tape them to the legs of my work bench and use them as magnetic holders for my steel rulers.
