Dave;
The Strat looks great - and I love that spalted maple. Would love to see more pictures!
Question for ya: how did you cut the slot for the selector switch?

Nothing like having Mother Nature *paint* the flame job on your axe!

I'll try get some pics of the progress up this weekend.
Steve I cut the selector slot using a dremel, straightedge and a 1/16" bit, nothing fancy.

Nice work there Dave.
Spalted grain can be hit or miss. Yours looks great. I particularly like the way the black stain line sort of arrows toward the butt end of the neck. It gives the guitar a sort of V like look.
I'm guessing that you're not doing the forearm cut. Any plan for bindings on the top? Should look great finished.

Right on DAVE!!!
hey, for those of you who don't know, this young man makes great axes and rolls his own pickups - I bet we can talk him into showing us a bit of his current winding and building set up for that.
REALLY like the headstock, Dave - I remember over yonder we were looking at several variations and this one looks top notch to me.
Are you gonna relieve the edges on the body or leave 'em square or bind 'em, or??
Very cool!

Re: Spalted Maple Strat Build
Thanks guys, no forearm cut on this one, i wasn't game enough to attempt to bend the top, I've seen it done with flame but not spalt.
I've already given the edges a rollover like a regular strat.
Eben this one will probably will have some of my pickups, I'll remember to take some pics when i eventually get around to winding
