Thanks for the great comments guys, and thank you Grant for the tip on how to prevent future problems with overhanging backs. Simple technique to avoid potential big problems.
Okay, we're on to binding.
Got the bodies routed for the binding and the end splash installed.
Walnut,
And rosewood.
Binding bent and ready, and now more photos than you ever wanted to see as binding is installed!
Using the scraper to knock off the inner corner of the binding so it sets in nice.
Applying glue.
Taping binding into place.
Working on around.
And all taped up.
Just be glad I didn't make you watch me take the tape off!
Using the scraper to cut the binding down to size.
The walnut binding cleaned up.
One down, one to go, and I'll get it cleaned up tomorrow. See what happens when you start listening to Eric and Waddy, incredible action shots of gluing and taping and scraping, oh my!
Thanks for watching,
Joe

Man Joe, you really did that slick. And a neat job, too. How many of these you say you've made?

Looking good Joe. Very neat work on the binding, and your so fast too. You are just a natural at this and make it look so easy. Your artistic side really shows through.

Re: A Pair of Ditsons
These are numbers 5 & 6 Grant, thanks Garry.
Just wanted to show a few pictures of both bodies bound, scraped and sanded.
Too many pictures I know, but guitars have such sculptural shapes, inside and out, pieces and parts. No wonder we love the guitar! And sounds good also? Unreal, must have been invented by the gods!
Thanks,
Joe

Re: A Pair of Ditsons
Eben will officially crack down on anyone that posts too many pictures. hahahahahahahah Not very likely!
Joe, those are some really nice shots - and you're right, there's just something inherently pleasing about those shapes!

Re: A Pair of Ditsons
Just a little bit of progress here.
Got the mahogany glued up for the necks for both guitars.
And then I got side-tracked on a must-build jig for holding the guitar body. Thanks to Eben for supplying the threaded dowels and nuts, I can now use both hands to use the scraper! I guess that means that I can now retire the old knee-clamp vise!
Thanks Eben, and thanks for watching guys,
Joe
