Well, I started this one this past Spring and I guess it has been sitting since early Summer. I thought I had started a build thread, but seems like I did not. So picking up where it is now.
I did this whole thing up to carving the back braces and putting on the back (top done, sides bent and glued to the top, and neck blank roughed out and peghead overlay glued on, etc.) way before Stringfest. It was a crappy day today, a bit of snow and cold, and I needed something cheerful. I know there are things that should be a higher priority today, but I said "to hell with that" and cranked up the stove in the shop and worked on this guitar. Felt good
I had done a few minor things over this past month, glued on back linings and side braces, so I just needed to sand the back braces and cut pockets for the ends of the back braces and the back could be glued on.
Here it is ready for the back
I should mention that, like most of us if we just sit around for several months, the waist on this one had spread a bit So I made a fixture from plywood so I could shim it back to the correct width
Another view
You can see how nice the bookmatch of the sides matches. This is some super well quartersawn wood.
The back ready to go
And the deed is done
When I get this one cleaned up, I have 3 bodies ready for binding. All of the bindings are bent, so I will be doing all of them together.
Thanks for looking,
G
